Hi, I have no idea how old my set up at my cabin is, but the control box and disconnect are rusted beyond belief. But if I had to guess, I'd say an easy 25-30 years but leave the window open for older. Herein lies the problem. I understand that modern 230V, 3 wire pumps have the starting circuit built into the pump motor. That makes a separate control box unnecessary. But is this a new thing or go back a few decades? It's a 3/4 hp pump and has three wires coming out : yellow, red, and black. I haven't pulled the pump as it's working ok. But the controller is Jaccuzzi model. The schematic inside shows 6 wires: 2 + ground from the line, and red, black, and yellow going to the load. This may include wires to and from the pressure switch. The new control box has something similar, but an additional connection for the motor windings (maybe?). I guess my question is, will I need the control box? If so, how can I wire it to make it work with the new 4 wire units? Please help. Thanks! I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.
